What are the advantages of conveying a realistic recruitment message as opposed to portraying the job in a way that the organization thinks that job applicants want to hear?

What are the advantages of conveying a realistic recruitment message as opposed to portraying the job in a way that the organization thinks that job applicants want to hear? Many individuals that take this class are not necessarily passionate about data, reliability, validity, etc. Passion aside, submit positions on the advantages and disadvantages for measuring in the hiring process. Which side do you lean toward? Why? What steps should be taken by an organization that is committed to shattering the glass ceiling? What roles should HR professionals play in staffing decisions? Why? Why should an organization seek to retain employees with performance or discipline problems? Why not just fire them?
